About Hellgate High School

Hellgate High School is a public high school located in Missoula, Montana. Established in 1908 as Missoula County High School, it was renamed Hellgate High in the mid-1960s following the opening of Sentinel High School. The school serves approximately 1,312 students in grades 9 through 12 and is part of the Missoula County Public Schools district.

Mission Statement

At Hellgate High School, our mission is to provide a comprehensive educational experience that fosters academic excellence, personal growth, and responsible citizenship. We strive to create a supportive and inclusive environment where every student is encouraged to reach their full potential and become engaged, lifelong learners. Through rigorous coursework, diverse extracurricular activities, and strong community partnerships, we aim to prepare students for success in college, career, and civic life.

Academic Excellence

Hellgate High School offers a wide range of academic programs designed to meet the needs and interests of all students. Our curriculum includes core subjects such as English, mathematics, science, and social studies, as well as electives in areas like world languages, art, industrial technology, and family and consumer science. We also offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program, providing students with opportunities for rigorous coursework and global perspectives.

Extracurricular Activities

Beyond the classroom, Hellgate High School provides numerous extracurricular opportunities for students to explore their interests and develop new skills. Our offerings include a variety of athletic teams, music programs, and clubs. Notably, our choir has been selected to perform at Carnegie Hall in both 2014 and 2024, showcasing the exceptional talent within our student body.
